Fixed small bug when trying to view the source code to a index.htm web page that ends without the /index.htm bit.
Displaying the page created date and page modified date problem.
Because the page dates are stored as a string and not a date value from the file, it is impossible to tell if the string is in the International date format or the north American format.
Different file types and different domains and local files store the date string in different date formats.
This program attempts to workout the format by checking if the day or month is grater than the 12th.
Eg. There are not 13 months in a year with ' 2/13/2009' so must be '13/02/2009'.
If the day and month are both before the 13th, then the date will be read using the most common format for your local files and Internet files.
You are now warned if you try to save a file over an old file.
Can now save just the page text (no formatting) if you wish. (Only works with some file types.)
WebWindow now checks if it is on-line before trying to read the additional version information from the Internet. (See notes below)View - Internet status = Displays the current type of Internet connection. (See notes below)Note; If you are blocking traffic with some Internet security software then WebWindow will say that you have a connection if connected but blocked.

All URL's are displayed in the normal format. (Eg. 'file:///C:/My%20files/V%20Basic/Test.htm' now displayed as 'C://My files/V Basic/Test.htm')
Now checks that the current page has been added to the history list in two places. (When the url changes and when the status returns 'Done', as some pages never return 'Done' or complete.)
All WebWindow windows are now moved into the desktop area. Older versions would move all windows into the main monitor (1) screen area only.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.00.0014 (11/04/2009 - 8:30pm bst)

From version 0.00.0012 program would read the desktop area from the whole desktop and not just the main monitor area.
Some versions of Windows with a single monitor would return the desktop area as 0 pixels wide by 0 pixels height so window would always open in the top left corner as small as possible.
If a single monitor systems return an area of 0 by 0 pixels for the desktop, then this program will get the area from the screen width and height values.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.00.0016 (21/04/2009 - 8:00pm bst)
The favourites list now displays the page names, rather than just the page addresses.
The edit favourites list menu option is now disabled if you are not viewing a page or file. (Eg. A directory or about:blank etc.)
The favourites list is saved to the registry when you update the list and not when WebWindow closes down now.
(This means if you open two windows, edit the list in window one and close it. Then when you close window two the new list from window one will not be replaced by the older list from window two)View - Page information, now displays directory and file list when viewing a directory. (Only works with local directories)

Fixed small bug when saving file or viewing file source code if address has extra information after a question mark.
Eg. http://markagius.co.uk/webpages/contents.htm?SubPage=countdown_xmas.htm?Tune=3 would return a bad file name or number error when saving or viewing source code.
http://markagius.co.uk/webpages/contents.htm?SubPage=countdown_xmas.htm?Tune=3 will now save or display source code from http://markagius.co.uk/webpages/contents.htm

then display the no access message now, rather than loading a copy of WebWindow and then displaying the no access message.
Fixed bug in the 'Restricted web site list' window. (Code was reading information from the top add url text when it should have read info from the delete url list)

but worked if opened as a page link or in a frame. Edited code and now also works if typed into the address bar.
Added Windows Mail to the list of email programs. (Windows Mail replaces Outlook Express in Windows Vista and Windows 7)
Edited the code to create shortcut files. Code now also works with Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions.
If this page is closed with the Javascript:window.close() command, then the whole window and not just the browser part will now close.
In the options window, you can set WebWindow to display a warning or not when the page tries to close the window with the Javascript:window.close() command.
Renamed the main EXE file from MarksWebWindow.exe to WebWindow.exeNote: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.00.0027 ( 3/08/2009 - 3:00pm bst)
If you click on the 'page icon' with CTRL held down, then the file type icon image for the currently loaded page will be used while dragging icon.
The WebWindow icon will still be used when dragging without CTRL to create a shortcut file.
In version 0.00.0026 the same WebWindow icon was used when saving the file or creating a shortcut file to the web page.
If no reference to this file type icon is found in the registry, then WebWindow will use one of the inbuilt images.
When drag-dropping the page icon the file name is taken from the page title.
If there are any invalid file characters in the page title, then the file character will be swapped.

Note; The dot character is also swapped with the comma character, as a dot is used to mark the start of the file extent / file type.
Eg. If the page title is; MATHEMATICS / INFO | To multiply enter "10.5 * <Your value> = ?"
Then page saves as; MATHEMATICS - INFO I To multiply enter '10,5 - [Your value] = !'.lnk (Shortcut file)
or; MATHEMATICS - INFO I To multiply enter '10,5 - [Your value] = !'.htm (+CTRL to save web page)(Version 0.00.0026 would just display the error 'This page was not saved... directory may be a read only directory.')
When drag-dropping the page icon, CTRL pressed is now checked all the time and not just at the start of the drag.
(So if you change your mind during the drag, the icon and save action will change from/to a file or shortcut file)
When drag-dropping the page icon with CTRL held down. If there is already a file with the same name, a warning to abort saving the page or overwrite the old file is displayed. (This is the same as when creating a shortcut file over an old file)
When drag-dropping the page icon with CTRL held down. The end of page address from the first '?', '&' or '#' is removed. (This is the same as File, Saving the page)
If you try and CTRL drag a directory to save it as a file, then a message box will tell you that you can only save it as a shortcut file.
If you try and CTRL drag a page or file that was not found, then a message box will tell you that the page was not found. (Version 0.00.0026 would think that the file was not saved because the directory was locked)
After drag-dropping a page to create a shortcut file. (CTRL was not pressed) Click menu - Properties over the file, then Change Icon.. to select one of the inbuilt icons for this file.
In the options window, the window title now has a few entries in a drop down list. (The window title option was only in a text box in previous versions)
New menu options added;
File - Paste and load URL (F6) = Pastes the clipboard text into the address bar and loads the page.
Note; Use File - Paste URL address, (F5) if you wish to edit the address before loading the page.
If the page or file is not found, then it won't be added to the history list.
You can now copy the selected text and/or readout the selected text from a frame or sub-frame. (Previous versions only worked if the selected text was in the top page and not in a frame)
When viewing the source code from an Internet page. The download date is no longer displayed as it hasn't yet been downloaded. (If the 'Add filename and date to source code' option ticked)
When saving a HTML file or edited HTML file, the saved file name path is also added to the source code. (If the 'Add filename and date to source code' option is ticked)
When saving an edited file, the page address, filename and date is now also added to the source code. (If the 'Add filename and date to source code' option is ticked)
If you try to save a forbidden page (Eg. .htaccess) then a warning will let you know that the page was not saved.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.01.0028 (11/08/2009 - 10:00pm bst)
Added *.xml(RSS news feed) to the list of file types you can view the source code from.
(You can now view the source code from the following file types; htm, html, shtml, xml, mht, ftp, asp, aspx, cfm, eml, php, stm and txt)
You can now type or have an about: link in any case. Previous versions would check that the start of the about: string was in lower case only.
From version 0.00.0026 about: commands stopped working if clicked on a link to open/run it in the same top window or same frame.
(Opening in new windows and typing it into the address bar worked)
You can now run/load about commands from the address bar, in the same window/frame or in a new window/frame.
Added the Mozilla Easter egg. Will select by random one of three pages.
In previous versions, if the page is over &hBFFFF bytes,
not a local file,
a html file
and the convert line feeds / display header information option is ticked,
then an error would occur when trying to view the source code or saving the page.
(Test on the about:blog page)
If the page is over &h10000 bytes, not a local file and convert line feeds is ticked, then the title bar will display the percentage of code converted before displaying the code.
Renamed the menu option 'File - Header/Footer history' as 'File - Header/Footer setup'.
You can now also set the font used in printing the header/footer in the Header/Footer setup window.
Note; If a html page dose not select a font face then this font is also used,
but will not be altered until after you close and restart WebWindow.
Web page printout demonstration.
This is where the main part of the web page will be printed, using the font face and size set by the page.
The top header and bottom footer line font is set in the Header/Footer setup window.
If the page or part of a page dose not select a font then the header/footer font will be used or the plain fixed spaced font for text within <PRE> or <CODE> HTML tags.
This is how a page may printout if;
Header = &w&b&d - &t
Footer = &u&bPage &p of &P.
Page 1 of 12.
Note; This version lists all the fonts in your system and not just the fonts you can use for your header text.So when selection some fonts a different font may be used.I hope to fix this bug in a future version.
Added ':' to the list of invalid file characters when drag-dropping the page icon.

If you try and drag an about: page with CTRL held down then the page icon will change to the 'X' icon, as you can only save shortcuts to the about: page and not the page.
The date and time you installed the last version is now displayed in the About WebWindow box. (The date of the WebWindow.exe file)
The displayed date when trying to access a restricted page or frame, is now displayed in the date format as set in the options window and not always in the international date format.
When you press the return/enter key in the address bar to load a new page, you will no longer hear the beep sound.
Renamed File - Search (Ctrl+Ins) as File - Search page
Added File - Search box (F12). This will display/hide a text box where you can enter your search engine text. (This search box also lists your old searches)
The new search box (F12) also lists the last 100 searches you have made in a drop down list.
The Search box menu option will be disabled if the search page address as set in the options windows dose not include a search query.
Eg. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q= is ok, but http://www.google.co.uk will not display the search textbox.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.02.0029 (11/10/2009 - 8:00am bst)
In the options window you can now set where the source code is read from.
So when viewing the source code or saving a HTML page the data is read from the file as before, or from the browser object.
Viewing the source from a page ending with . .../comments.pl?action=rss&article_key=/text-effects/jswavetext.html
If 'Get page source code from file' is ticked, then the source code from file comments.pl will be displayed.
If 'Get page source code from displayed page' is ticked, then the page code will be displayed that was read from jswavetext.htmlNote;
When viewing the source code from the browser object, any characters not supported
by your text editor will be displayed as the '?' or '█' character.
Eg. 'Català, 中国简单, Čeština' = 'Català, ????, Ce█tina'.
If you enter an invalid file name or path in the options window for the text editor or email program, WebWindow
will try to convert it into a valid name. It will then display an error message if it can't.
'Access restricted' message is now said after a short time delay to allow the page/frame to be edited and hidden first.
Can now also view the source code from .pl files.
In File - Options - Options edit - Browser, you can now set this browser to run in the following languages; ♦

Fixed bug in the File - Options... - Restricted site list (Shift+Del) You can now change your password even if there are no websites in the 'to blocked listed'.
If you have installed Internet Explorer 8 then...
about:home will no longer work if typed into the address bar,
as a page link in the same window, as a page link to a new window,
as a link to a frame/i-frame, as a frame/i-frame or sub frame/i-frame.
This also stops it working in all old versions of WebWindow and the Home button if set to about:home.
The Netscape/SeaMonkey family of browsers have never supported about:home
To get the Home button working again with all versions of WebWindow, click on File - Options... - Options edit
Then in the options window under the Program tab, set the 'home page address' from 'about:home' to the real home page address.
(This should be the 3rd option down the list)
If the page you wish to use as your home page is not listed then;
Close the options window.
Go to the page you wish to use as your home page.
Open the options window again.
The page address should now be in the 'Home page address' list.
Click on OK to set this as your new home page.
This version now supports about:home even if IE 8 is installed with;
● The Home button. (Even if set to about:home in the options page)
● A link to about:home in this window.
● A link to about:home in a new window.
(about:home in frames/iframes and sub frames are not supported (Unless you are still using IE 7))Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.04.0031 (12/06/2010 - 4:30pm bst)
When using your search engine on the main window, the end of the URL is now removed.
Eg. Search box URL = 'http://www.google.co.uk/search?q='
Main page URL = 'http://www.google.co.uk/'
Older versions of WebWindow would use 'http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=' for the search box and the main page.
Using 'http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=' stopped working for a short time in May 2010
as Google displayed 'Your search did not match any documents'
as it failed to find any matches with ''.
You can now turn off the navagition error warning, in the options browser tab.
If 'Report navigation errors' is not ticked, then you will see no error message boxes or hear any error reports.
The error will still be added to the list of errors displayed in the View - Error list window.
The string 'WebWindow 0.04.0031' is now added to user-agent and app-version. (* Note 1)
This means that the web page can now check using Java script, (* Note 2) if it's being displayed with WebWindow and the version or some other browser.
Your user-agent string is; (navigator.userAgent)
(Note 1; The navigator.appVersion string is 'browser code name +navigator.userAgent' string)
(Note 2; The string 'WebWindow ...' is only added from this version, so the following code won't work with early versions)
The Java script code to check if page is displayed with a new version of WebWindow or not is;
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--
if(navigator.userAgent.indexOf(" WebWindow ")>=0){
// WebWindow version 0.04.0031 or later.
// Add/edit code here. EG. this.location = "webwindowPage.htm";
} else {
// Not WebWindow or version before 0.04.0031
// Add/edit code here. EG. this.location = "OtherBrowser.htm";
}
// -->
</SCRIPT>
Added Start page and Home page to the end of the Favourites menu.
Fixed bug when saving some files, (Not html, htm, shtml etc.) from the Internet with 'Convert all line feeds' and/or 'Add filename and date' ticked.
In the File, Options..., Options edit window, under the Set file types tab, you can now set the icon to use with different WebWindow files.
When this version of WebWindow is out of date, you will still be able to edit the options. (Older versions will disable options window when version is out of date)Note:Windows 95 and Windows 98 users only;
The string 'WebWindows 0.04.0031' is not added to the user-agent string with your system.
The list of icons in File, Options..., Options edit, Set file types, Edit file icons
only lists the WebWindow icons (About 41 icons in total) and not any of the system icons. (Over 230 icons)Windows Vista users only;
The string 'WebWindows 0.04.0031' is not added to the user-agent string with sone versions of Windows Vista.

displays the WebWindow and system icons, but only updates some file type icons due to security settings.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.05.0032 (15/07/2010 - 8:00pm bst)
If you have Internet Explorer 8 installed on your system, then you can now set this browser to act like IE7 (as before) or IE8.
If you are still using IE7 or an earlier version then this option will be disabled.
You can set this in File, Options..., Options edit, Browser, Browser type.
The 3 options are;
● IE 7 = Display all pages in IE7 mode. Default setting when first run.
● IE 8 = Display pages in IE8 mode if page designed to use this or a later mode, otherwise displays in IE7 mode. Recommended setting.
● IE 8 (All pages) = Display all pages in IE8 mode, even if page designed to be displayed by an older version. Not recommended.
The User-agent string will be;
IE 7 mode
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0;... ... ...; WebWindow 0.05.0032)
IE 8 mode
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0;... ... ...; WebWindow 0.05.0032) *See version 1.08.0035

Added the text/source code editor 'Source code edit' by Mark Agius.
You can select SourceEdit.exe in the options page, under the Program tab, source text editor program.
Note: This version of SourceEdit.exe can only handle files upto 65,467 bytes.The display page in IE 7 or IE 8 mode option, only works if you also have IE 8 installed and not with IE 9 Platform Preview or IE 9 beta. (See version 1.08.0035)Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.(This version is not compatible with Windows 8 or 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)0.06.0033 (12/08/2010 - 9:00am bst)

If you are using an older version of WebWindows, you can fix this bug by copying Inetcpl.cpl from C:\WINDOWS\Inetcpl.cpl to C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetcpl.cpl
(Copy Inetcpl.cpl and don't just move it or the Settings window link won't work)
As there is no default 'Firewall' program with Windows 98 and before, this option is now disabled on those machines.
Added File - Options... - Options edit, Browser tab, 'Network connection'.
This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7. (First Windows 7 compatible version since version 0.00.0010)Help - About WebWindow now also shows the computer operating system name next to the total number of WebWindow copies running.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 use different code to store the printer page header and footer values.
'File - Header/Footer setup now works on all systems.

Click with the shift key to load page in to a new window and not the current WebWindow.
Click with the Delete key to remove the page reference from the history list.
Note: Deleting a history item will not remove it from other open WebWindows. You should close all other copies and delete the history entry from the last open WebWindow.
In the Options window, (Browser tab) added option to display Web site icon or the WebWindow icon on the title bar.
(This only works with Web sites that use a legal .ico format)
Updated View - Page information window, to display Web site icon and display more information . (The same information as with other versions is still sent to the clipboard)Page information window now also displays the list of rss news feeds.
Page information window is now displayed on a coloured background.
Brown = Internet page.
Green = Local page or file on your hard drive.
Blue = Local directory on your hard drive.
When you 'Set WebWindow as the default browser', the option button is disabled immediately and not only when you reopen the options window.
Your OEM number is now displayed in the About WebWindow window, as the Windows System Information program no longer displays OEM number with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
This version of WebWindow now uses Speech version 0.00.0004.
You can now pause/resume the message being readout.
Fixed a bug that moved the cursor to the beginning of the selected text and not the end.
The About speech window now has a coloured background.
For more information on Speech please read the Help.pdf file. (Speech version; 0.00.0004 (20/08/2010 - 6:00pm))The display page in IE 7 or IE 8 mode option, only works if you also have IE 8 installed and not with IE 9 beta.This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)See version 2.12.0039 below when setting WebWindow as the default browser, with some old versions of to Windows.1.08.0035 (10/10/2010 - 10:10am bst)
Click menu on the View - Page information window, to display a new menu with an option to save the information to a text file.
The Page information window also displays the IE mode being used. (This is the mode when WebWindow was loaded and not the mode the page is designed to be displayed in)
In the options window, you can now run WebWindow in IE 9 mode or IE 9 mode with all pages, if you have a copy of Internet Explorer 9 installed.
The User-agent string now also displays the IE mode value.
The User-agent string with IE 7 or an earlier version installed,will be;
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE <IE version>; Windows ... ... ...; WebWindow 1.08.0038; IE<IE mode>)
(<IE version>=7.0 = <IE mode>=IE7, <IE version>=8.0 = <IE mode>=IE7 or IE6 etc)
The User-agent string with IE 8 installed, will be;
IE 7 mode
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; ... ... ...; Media Center PC 6.0; WebWindow 1.08.0035; IE7)

IE 9 mode (All pages)
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; WebWindow 1.08.0035; IE9 [All pages]; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/5.0)
As you can see above, if the IE mode is IE7 or before then the WebWindow string is added to the userAgent as before.
If the IE mode is IE8, IE9 or later then the word 'compatible' is replaced with 'compatible; WebWindow version; IEmode'.
If you have installed Internet Explorer 9 beta or later and using a previous version of WebWindow,
then IE 8 mode will not add the WebWindow string to the User-agent string due to changes with Internet Explorer 9.
As Internet Explorer 9 beta and later versions do not return the full userAgent data a new option has been added.
Tick 'File - Options... - Options edit - Browser - Return full userAgent string' to add all the userAgent information.
The User-agent string with IE 9 installed and Return full userAgent string ticked will be;
*

* In IE7 mode this option is disabled as the full userAgent is always returned.
The recommended setting is 'Browser mode' = IE 9 and 'Return full userAgent string' = unticked.
If you have Internet Explorer 8 installed, in IE8 mode and Return full userAgent string ticked, then parts of the userAgent string will be repeated.
Division by zero error messages have been removed when downloading data. (Progress value change)
Although code checks when loading a page that it is not trying to divide a number by zero, code has been added to ignore any division by zero errors.
Note:
If viewing a HTML5 web page with frames and/or iframes, in IE9 or a later mode then the View menu will not work.
The display page in IE 7, IE 8 or IE 9 mode option, only works if you also have Internet Explorer installed with this or a later version.This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)See version 2.12.0039 below when setting WebWindow as the default browser, with some old versions of to Windows.1.09.0036 (29/04/2011 - 11:00am bst ~ Royal Wedding edition)
The IE viewing mode WebWindow is using, is now listed in the About window as well as the Page information window. (Eg. 'Display mode IE 9')
An option has been added to also display the IE viewing mode in the window title bar and when a new target window is opening.
(In the File, Options..., Options edit window. Then click on the Program tab and tick/un-tick the IE version in title option)
Previous versions of WebWindow would not open and display the View menu if;
viewing a HTML5 web page with frames and/or iframes, in IE9 or a later mode.
This version now disables the View - Frames... menu if in IE9 or a later mode.
The View - Page information window will not display the correct information for
any frames, if in IE9 or a later mode.
We hope to fix/restore this function in a future version.The later version 2.13.0040, checks if it can get the name and URL from frames and enable or disable the View Frames menu in all IE modes.

When View - Work offline is ticked, the About window displays a different message. (Browser dose not try to get message from Internet)
If the browser was working in offline mode (Work offline ticked) then any new windows will also load in offline mode.
* The working in off-line mode will only affect the current window and any windows you later open.
Any other windows that are already loaded will continue to work in their on-line or off-line mode.
The work in off-line mode will reset after 1 day to on-line mode. (The 1 day limit may change to a different amount of time in a future version)If this browser takes a long time to load, this may be because the WebWindow website is down and the program can't read the version file.
From this version, clicking on 'Work offline' will allow the browser to continue working, without trying to read the version file.
If you have a broadband connection, ticking 'Work offline' will still allow you to view Internet websites.
When the browser version is out of date or it can't read the version information from this site,
then the Work offline menu option is now displayed in the Help menu, as the View menu is disabled.
The menu Help - about:Commands is now disabled if this version is out of date or it can't read the version information from this site.
In version 0.06.0033, I added the two following command line parameters:
"\WebWindow.exe" -Preferences %1(Start WebWindow with the option window loaded before the main browser window loads)
"\WebWindow.exe" -UrlLink %1(Send a return key press before WebWindow has the input focus)
In this version, I have added the following parameter:
"\WebWindow.exe" -OffLine %1(Start WebWindow always in offline mode)%1 is the address of the web page to load. If not set, then will load the welcome page.
If you wish to load a blank page use about:blank
If you wish to load your home page use about:homeIf you wish to include more than one of the line parameters, then they must be in the following order:
...\WebWindow.exe -Preferences -UrlLink -OffLine http://www...Examples:
"\WebWindow.exe" "-OffLine" "http://google.com"
"\WebWindow.exe" "-Preferences" "-UrlLink" "-OffLine" "http://yahoo.com"

You can now add your name or any other short message to the userAgent string. See the options window under the browser tab.
Note: Your userAgent message string, can only be up to 70 characters long.Double quotes " are replaced with two single quotes '' as code on some web pages do not like " in the middle of a string.You should avoid using " (character 34) and ' (character 39) and use ` (character 96) instead.The userAgent string will only be updated in new windows that open, after editing the userAgent message.When you set a new userAgent string, type about:Browser will display the new userAgent string in this and older windows,but clicking on the userAgent link will display the old userAgent string in this and older windows.Warning: The userAgent string can be read by any web page and web server.
Added the command line parameter -LanguageLanguage name and -LanguageLanguage number

Some code used for testing the WebWindow option to 'Set WebWindow as the default browser' has been fixed.
This affects version 0.06.0033 to 2.11.0038 with some but not all versions of Windows.
This would cause links in emails applications and other applications to load WebWindow with the page 'about:HTTP protocol test' and not the correct page link in WebWindow.
With the above versions you can fix this with RegEdit.exe.
Every time you click on Options edit, Browser, Set WebWindow as the default browser,
you will need to edit the registry string value of;
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command(Default)
From; "C:\ ..path to WebWindow.exe.. \WebWindow.exe" "about:HTTP protocol test."
To; "C:\ ..path to WebWindow.exe.. \WebWindow.exe" "%1"
This version sets the correct registry value.

Select some text and press Ctrl+F12 to list some websites with information on the selected text.
Added View - Page scale, to display web pages, image files, text files and some other file types at a different scale.
This is different from the View - Text size option that only changes the size of some text and not images or other objects.
You should use Page scale and not Text size, as the page layout is affected less by scaling the whole page than just the size of the text.

The code to open a new window at the same size as the last window, did not work and always opened the window at 100%, with some versions of Windows and Internet Explorer.
The code has been moved from the form is active, to the first document has finished loading.
Added an option in the options window to always open new windows at 100% scale or at the same scale as the last window.
Added a browse for new home page button in the options window. * Local pages only.
Added a browse for new start page button in the options window. * Local pages only.*To select an Internet home page or start pages, use the text drop-down box as before.
Added an option in the options window to add WebWindow to all SVG file menus.
Added an option in the options window to add WebWindow to all MP3 and MP4 file menus.
Added an option in the options window to add WebWindow to all MPEG file menus.
WebWindow now checks when a page has loaded, if it can read the URL's and names of the frames and sub-frames.
This means that the main View menu will always display.
You can now view the source code from frames and sub-frames in any IE mode if the page is compatible.
If there is some reason the web page will not return this information, then the View, Frames... menu is disabled, so the main View menu will still work.
Some pages will display the frames list in IE7 mode only. Some in IE7 and IE8 only. Some in IE7 to IE9 modes etc.
Note: The View, Page information window will list the frames as 'unknown name', 'unknown address' etc. if they can not be read.
The option code to set WebWindow as the default browser has been changed slightly.
-UrlLink was used to send a spacebar keydown event to Windows email applications, to load WebWindow without an error message.
From 6/10/2011 Windows Live Mail would load the next message or beep if the link was in the last message.
The -UrlLink parameter has been removed from the registry values; http, https, ftp, gopher and feed.
Windows Live Mail and other email applications seam to be working correctly again without any errors.
If the start page dose not exist and was a local page, WebWindow will load about:blank.
If the start page dose not exist and was an Internet web page, WebWindow will display the 404 error page.
If Help - WebWindow help dose not find the help file, it displays a warning message. (This file has been renamed, moved or deleted)
Pressing Escape to close the option window, when the focus was on some of the options did not work with the previous versions.
This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)2.14.0041 (11/11/2011 - 11:11am gmt)
The option to always open new windows at the current scale of the last window or at 100% scale has been replaced by
an option to always open new windows at the current scale of the last window or at a set percentage between 10% and 1,000% in the options window.
If Help - WebWindow help dose not find the help file, it displays a warning message as before and now also a link to the on-line help page.
Version 2.13.0040 will crash if you try to load a local directory on your hard-drive. This was due to it trying to scale the display.
This version dose not try to scale any local directory displayed windows.
The File, History list is now updated in all windows when a page is loaded.
(Previous versions only updated the current window and new windows that open after closing this window.)
The Favourites menu and Edit favourites list window have been replaced by a single list.

You can still only drag one file into a tab window to replace the old page, but can drag one or a number of files to
the background of the main window to open each file in a new separate tab window.
When saving an unedited page, you can save the top frame only, as before. File - Load = Opens a window to select and load a local page.
File - New tab = Opens a new tab window with the welcome page loaded.
File - Options... = Opens the WebWindow options menu. (Same as clicking menu on the background)File - Exit all = Closes all tabs windows and this copy of WebWindow.
Favourites = Opens your list of favourite websites.
Help = Opens the WebWindow help menu.
Javascript: window.open(URL, target, "width=.., height=.., left=.., top=.., ...")
Now moves and resizes the new tab window to the correct size and position.
If new tab window is maximised, then moves and resizes whole browser window.
File - Tab list, lists all open tab windows. Click on list to select tab and display webpage above the other tabs.
The total number of tab windows is also displayed next to the Tab list menu in brackets and in the titlebar.
The selected tab window is ticked in the list. (If you have more than one copy of this page loaded, then all copies will be ticked)
The list can be the webpage titles or URL's as selected in the options window.
(The list only displays the first 100 tabs although you can load more than 100 tab windows if you wish)(If window was minimised, then window is also expanded)View - Error list, now lists errors in all tab windows opened in this copy of WebWindow and not just the tab with input focus.
The favourites window no longer stops you using the rest of the browser when open. It also resizes if you resize the main window.
When closing the main window, if you have more than one tab window open, then a warning will remind you and give you the option not to close WebWindow.
If WebWindow is closed down becouse Microsoft Windows is closing(Shutdown), then no warning is given.
Closing WebWindow with the task manager will not display a warning with Windows 95 - Windows XP.
As Windows 7 uses the same unload value when closing with the window titlebar or the Task Manager, a warning is given.
Un-tick Display close warning if multi-tabs open to disable this option in the option window.
Note:
There are a couple of bugs with this version:
Opening about:commands in a new tab window dose not work.
(OK when opening in the same tab window or a new copy of WebWindow)
The about window will always display this version as a pre-release version, until version is disabled.This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)3.16.0043 ( 1/01/2012 - 12:01am gmt)
You can now change the font used to display the URL, in the options, Program tab section. (The font list window is resizable)
You can not enter size values less than 6 points or over 25 points and should enter values between 8 and 16 points.
Note:
When selecting a new font in the options window, if you have a very big list of fonts, the list may take a few seconds to list them all.
A list of 750 fonts takes just under 10 seconds to display.
The old default values are;
Font name; Fixedsys
Font size; 9 points
Font bold; Off
Font italic Off
The URL address bar is now updated at soon as you request the page, as well as when the page has finished loading.
This means that you can read the new address while a slow page loads.
The maximum size of the favourites list, has been increases from 60 to 100 links.
The maximum size of the history list, has been increases from 60 to 240 links.
In version 3.15.0042, opening an about:command with a page link, worked when:
Opening in the same window or new copy of WebWindow. (As before)
But not when opening in a new tab window in the same copy of WebWindow.
In version 3.15.0042, the File, Tab list ticked all pages with the same title and not the same URL as the tab window with the input focus,
if the Display tab titlesoptions is selected.
(This would cause some about:command to not be ticked and pages with the same title to be ticked)
This version now only ticks pages with the same URL as the page with the input focus. (If tab titles or tab URL's ticked in the options window)
Click on File, Tab list to display the tab window as before.
Click on File, Tab list with shift pressed to display information about the tab window.
(You can also use Shift+F1, Shift+F2, Shift+F3 etc, to display tab information)about:Tab and about:Tabs now lists the open tab windows and not the favourites list.
about:Favourites(and about:Favorites) will still display the favourites list as before.
When you drag a new background image file to the background options window, the file name and size is also displayed under the image.
If the image is smaller than your desktop then a warning is displayed, but the image is still loaded.
The error message will display the size of the image and your desktop size.
The background colour will be displayed in areas not covered by the image.
Click on the Edit link to edit the image size to your desktop size.
(If you save the image with a different filename, then you will need to drag the new image
to the background options window again)
Click on Cancel to keep the old image.
The File - New window menu now also displays the IE mode it will open in, in the menu. EG. New window (IE 9)
Added File - New window modes sub-menu to open page in any of the listed modes.
As most other browsers will not support different IE modes, New window modes will always load into a copy of WebWindow.
(Use New window +Ctrl to load into your default browser)
Fixed bug that always display the version as a pre-release version in the About window, with version 3.15.0042.
Note: Version 3.15.0042 can still be set as a disabled version in the future.
This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)3.17.0044 ( 6/06/2013 - 6:00am bst)
Company versions of WebWindow are now available.
If you are using a company version then the background image advertising your company can not be changed by the user.
There will also be no menu option to open the Background options window.
The company name will be displayed in the Help - About WebWindow window.
The start of the version number is used to identify major changes and the last four digits of the number is now used to identify the different company versions.
EG. This version is 3.17.????. (Your version; )
Version 3.17.0000 was a temporary development versions, used for testing. This test version was disabled a few days after the public version (3.17.0044) was released.
Version 3.17.0044 is the public version, where the user can change/set the background image and colour.
Version 3.17.5001 to version 3.17.9999 are company versions, where the background image and colour can not be changed. The company name is also displayed in the About window.
If you want a company version of WebWindow then you must let us know your company name (to appear in the About WebWindow display)
A copy of the image to be used as the background image and the background colour.
(You can test the image, by dragging it into the background options window in a public version of WebWindow)
If you wish the image to cover the whole of the background, then it should be the size of the largest desktop you use or larger.
(EG. 1600 by 1200 pixels.)
If you wish to use a smaller image, then fade the bottom and right side of the image to the same colour as the background colour.
(See WW image 1 and WW image 2 in the background options window, for examples of a background image that is smaller than the desktop size)
All public version have been and are still free, but a small donation would be appreciated with company versions, depending on the size of your company.
When new versions come out, the commercial versions will not be disabled until you request and receive a free upgraded version with your company logo.
Software upgraded versions will be free, but we may charge you for new versions:
If you wish for a new background image and/or colour within a short time from your last version.
You wish to change the company name within a short time from your last version.
For information on purchasing a company version and costs, please see the order form at;
http://webwindow.markagius.co.uk/CommercialVersion/order.htm.
If the Speech.exe file is not found, then WebWindow uses code to speak, but in a single tasking mode as with older versions.
As from version 3.15.0042 WebWindow uses copies of the browser window as tab windows.
As the single tasking speech window needs to know the handle of the tab window that opened it but did not, this caused WebWindow
to crash with version 3.15.0042 and 3.16.0043(If you try to read a page or selected text and the Speech.exe file is missing)
This bug has now been fixed.
Add about:TabOpenTime to display the time the tab window was opened.
Note: about:TabOpenTime is the time the tab window opens, so if you open it in a new tab window,
then the time displayed will be the current time the new tab opened and not the time of the tab window that opened it.
about:WebWindowOpenTime and about:TabOpenTime will usually only display the time, but if the application or tab window was loaded
before midnight then the date is also displayed.
The View - Page information window now also displays the time this copy of WebWindow was opened, the tab window was opened and the page or directory was loaded.
View - Page information window now displays about: pages with a yellow colour background. (Was the same colour as Internet pages in previous versions) Brown = Internet pages.
Green = Local pages or files on your hard drive.
Yellow = about: pages.
Blue = Local directories on your hard drive.
Version 3.16.0043 updated the URL address bar, as soon as you request a new page.
This meant that about:, javascript:, mailto:, vbscript: links would also be displayed in the address bar and not the current page.
Code now updates the URL address bar unless it starts with; about:, javascript:, mailto:, vbscript: etc.
The URL address bar is now also updated as well as the displayed page, when you click on Refresh.
Fix bug when opening the options 'Edit file icons' window, with version 3.15.0042 and 3.16.0043.
(Browser would crash when reading main window icon as the main window is now used to open copes as tab windows.)
If you use about:home as your home page, then running or installing some software can change your home page address without your permission.
Use File - Options - Homepage reset to reset your home page from a list of pages.
The list is stored in file abouthomeBackout.dat and expanded each time you change your home page to a new address.
If file abouthomeBackout.dat is not found then it will be created with the following addresses:
about:blankabout:helphttp://webwindow.markagius.co.ukShift+F12 will now open the Internet search page and no longer opens tab window 12.
File - New window modes - .. now also displays a tick by the current browser mode.
File - New Window (IE ..) displays the browser mode the window will open in.
This may be a different mode to the current window, if changed in the options window or by any other WebWindow window.
File - Oopions... - Options edit - Browser - HTML5 options to set audio sound output with <AUDIO> and <VIDEO> controls.
If Display audio menu option ticked, then File - HTML5 audio can turn on/off audio sound.
(This will apply to all new tab windows and copies of WebWindow)
If Reload page when ticked / unticked, is ticked then the current tab window will close and re-open to enable/disable audio.
Past to page option is disabled if there is no clipboard data or you are viewing a directory. (As before)
Past to page option is now also disabled if there is no selected text to replace.
about:DisplayMode will display the mode that the browser is using. (As before)about:TopDisplayMode will display the highest IE mode you can use. (New)
You can also view the display mode you are in and the top IE mode value in the userAgent string.
WebWindow now supports modes up to IE10, if you have Internet Explorer 10 or above installed.
Please note:<!--[if IE]>..<![endif]--> and <!--[if !IE]><!-->..<!--<![endif]--> work if you are in IE7 mode or the page is not setup as a HTML5 page, with <!DOCTYPE html>.
If you are in IE8 mode or later and the page code starts with <!DOCTYPE html>, then the code will fail. This is not Internet Explorer or an IE clone.<!--[if lt IE 8]> .. <!--[if IE 8]> .. <!--[if gt IE 8]> .. will always think you are in the top IE mode, unless you are in IE7. Error: Is this mode ?about:DisabledVersions, will list the disabled versions of WebWindow. (Data read from; http://webwindow.markagius.co.uk/versions/WebWindowVersionInfo.htm)
Edited code so WebWindow will load faster, if the information file was not loaded from the Internet. (Off-line or file deleted)This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)3.18.0045 (16/07/2013 - 9:00pm bst)
File - Exit all is now also available when a tab window has the input focus. (Was only displayed when the main window had focus, with version 3.17.0044 and earlier versions)File - Exit has been renamed as File - Exit tab.
If the HTML5 options button has the input focus in the Options edit window, then you can now close the options window with the escape or break key.
about:Computer Company and about:Computer will now display < none > if there is no computer company name.
Note: The new JavaScript value ww_companyname will return an empty string if there is no company name, or N/A if ww_JS_privacy=true.
Added some new about:Computer commands:
about:Computer Name to display the computer name.
about:Computer OEM to display the computer OEM number.
Fixed bug with about:Computer Ticker to display the word 'and' at the correct position in the string.
about:List / about:Commands lists the about: commands as before, except about:StartPage / about:WelcomePage are now listed as page links.
If you are using a version of WebWindows that displays a version message when WebWindow starts,
you can now close the window by pressing any key while the window has the input focus.
In the Options... - Homepage reset window, you can now set WebWindow to check the about:home page when WebWindow loads.
The home page can be reset if this is the only copy loading or other copies have already been loaded.
You can also get WebWindows to beep if is resetting the home page address.
If the audio or homepage value has been reset when WebWindow loads, then a message will be added to the View - Error list.
View - Error list renamed as Error list (None) if there are no errors or Error list (... errors) if errors listed.
View - Error list now displays the number of tab window open during the error on the same line. (Tabs where listed, but on the line below the error address)about:DisabledVersions now also displays if the end of the version number is ignored.
If Ignore Reserve is true then displays Ignore Reserve and the end of the latest version is displayed in grey.
If Ignore Reserve is false then displays Check full version number and the whole of the latest version is displayed in black.
WebWindow now adds some JavaScript values and functions to all pages.
All value and function names inserted into pages begin with ww_.
The values can be read and edited in any IE mode. (HTML4 and HTML5 pages)
The values are read/write, so you can edit them, but they will be reset when the page loads.
You can also reset the values by calling the JavaScript function ww_ResetInbuiltValues().
Note: The extra WebWindow JavaScript values and functions will not work in frames and iFrames with this version.
Remember that the new values and functions will only work with the WebWindow browser, so also check if the browser can use them.
Use the following code to reset the values:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
try {
// Function created by WebWindow or JavaScript code on page has a function with the same name.
ww_ResetInbuiltValues();var canRunCode = true;
}
catch(err){
// Function not found. Not WebWindow or version before 3.18.0045.
alert("The code on this page is designed to work with a recient version of the WebWindow browser.\nPlease upgrade.");
var canRunCode = false;
}
if(canRunCode){
// WebWindow compatible code.
... .. .
... .. .
}
</SCRIPT>
The web page can use them to detect if it is being displayed in WebWindow, what IE mode it is etc, without using the userAgent string.
You should not try to define them before reading them as this would change the values.
As other browsers will return a object error, use the following code:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
try {
// Value set by WebWindow or JavaScript code on page has set the value.
var tempVariable = ww_name;
}
catch(err){
// Not WebWindow or version before 3.18.0045.
var tempVariable = "ww_name error: "+err;
}
this.document.write("ww_name = "+tempVariable+"<BR>");
</SCRIPT>
You can turn on/off some of the values in; File - Options - Options edit - Browser - Don't return private JavaScript values.
When JavaScript privicy values are disabled, ww_JS_privacy = true.
When JavaScript privicy values are disabled, some about:commands will also return the string N/A.
navigator.product value is now defined.
Value can be edited in the options window to WebWindow, Gecko, undefined or any other string value.
(Value may become uneditable with IE 11 or above installed and fixed as Gecko etc)
Note:
Internet Explorer up to IE 10 return undefined
Internet Explorer 11, pre release returns Gecko (unless you are in IE7 mode)
Netscape returns undefined
Some Netscape clones return Gecko or other string values.
Note:
You can also add your own JavaScript code to all pages.
To add JavaScript code, edit the js_ExtraCode.js file or create a new JS file in the WebWindow directory.
In the options window, External JS file path must point to this file.
ww_external_JS_Code = true if a JS file has been selected in the options window.
ww_external_JS_File is the file name of your JavaScript code.
ww_external_JS_FileFound = true if the file exists.
ww_external_JS_FileSize is the size of the JS file in bytes.
If ww_JS_privacy = true, then the above values will return N/A, undefined or false, but your JavaScript code will still be available.
To disable your JavaScript code, set External JS file path to - None -
The size of the JavaScript file is limited to 5,000 bytes with this version of WebWindow.
Note 1:
Extra WebWindow Javascript code has priority over external JS file code:
So ww_IEmode=1234 in js_ExtraCode.js would still return your current IE mode on the web page.
Note 2:
Due to changes with a later versions of WebWindows (From version 3.20.0047), ww_JS_privacy has been changed from a true/false value to an integer.
Do not use the following old code:
if(ww_JS_privacy==true) {... Can't get private values ...}
if(ww_JS_privacy==false) {... Can return private values ...}
Use the new code below:
if(ww_version<3.20){
if(ww_JS_privacy==true) {... Can't get private values ...}
if(ww_JS_privacy==false) {... Can return private values ...}
} else {
if(ww_JS_privacy==0) {... Can't get private values ...}
if(ww_JS_privacy!=0) {... Can return some or all private values ...}
if(ww_JS_privacy==1) {... Can return some private values ...}
if(ww_JS_privacy==2) {... Can return all private values ...}
}
Note 3:
The extra JavaScript functions and values added by WebWindow and ww_external_JS_File
are not available in frames and IFrames with this version.
The extra JavaScript functions and values only work with Windows 7 (Service pack 1) or later operating system versions.
If a tab window is closed with JavaScript code and it's the only open tab, then the main window is now also close.
In previous versions the tab window was closed, but the main window remained open.
If more than one tab window is open, then only that window will be closed.
If you are using a commercial version of WebWindows, (3.18.5000 - 3.18.9999)
you have one or more tab windows open and menu click on the background. (Outside any tab windows)
The commercial version will now display the Options menu and not the About WebWindow information box.
The freeware version will display the Background options window as before.
This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)3.19.0046 (23/11/2013 - 7:50pm gmt)
More JavaScript values and functions have been added. The maximum size of the ww_external_JS_File has now doubled from 5,000 bytes to 10,000 bytes with this version.
If ww_external_JS_File is not found or too big then error will be recorded in the View, Error list log,
with options to also display warning message or message in Web page.
Added the following command line parameters:
.../WebWindow.exe -JavaScriptPrivacySet to turn on the ww_JS_privacy option.
.../WebWindow.exe -JavaScriptPrivacyUnset to turn off the ww_JS_privacy option.
.../WebWindow.exe -JavaScriptExternalFileOff to deselect any external JavaScript code. ww_external_JS_Code=false. (ww_external_JS_File="")
EG.
"\WebWindow.exe" "-JavaScriptPrivacySet" "-JavaScriptExternalFileOff"= Start with private JavaScript and external JavaScript file disabled.Note:-JavaScriptPrivacySet has priority over -JavaScriptPrivacyUnset
So .../WebWindow.exe -JavaScriptPrivacyUnset -JavaScriptPrivacySet will turn on the ww_JS_privacy option.
.../WebWindow.exe -JavaScriptPrivacySet -JavaScriptPrivacyUnset will also turn on the ww_JS_privacy option.
In the options window, under the browser tab;
Renamed the 'External JS file path' label as 'External JS file'
Fixed small bug with the Options - Browser - External JS file Browse, to open the correct WebWindow directory.
Fixed small bug with JavaScript ww_ticker[10] value.
Version 3.18.0045 returned the correct H, M and S values, but the Day value was for the number of days the computer has been running.
Version 3.19.0046 now returns the day the computer was turned on. EG: Day=0 = 1st of January and 364 (or 365 in leap years) = 31st of December.
As the new JavaScript values and functions only work if you have Internet Explorer 10 or later installed:
The File - Options - Options edit - Browser - External JS file option is now disabled, if the top mode is less than IE10.
( IE 7 and before do not support the extra JavaScript functions.)
( IE 8 only displays the JavaScript messages. No values or functions are added.)
( IE 9 only displays the JavaScript messages. No values or functions are added.)
( IE 10, IE 11 and later displays JavaScript messages, returns values and adds Javascript functions.)
( To install Internet Explorer 10 or 11, you need Windows 7 service pack 1 or later.)
The about:Browser command now displays the userAgent in IE7, IE8/IE10 and IE11 modes. (If you have IE 11 installed)
The about:Browser command also displays the correct WOW Trident versions.
Internet Explorer and Trident versions:
IE version:
userAgent string:
MSHTML.dll version:
MSIE 4.0

If a version message has any HTML tags, they are removed when displaying the message in the WebWindow about window.
Your OEM number is displayed in the About window again and not off the right side of the window.
Your processor size is now displayed in the About window next to your operating system name.
Note:
If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or a later version installed, then the about: commands will no longer work in iFrames, unless you are in IE7 mode.
This will also affect all previous versions of WebWindow.
You can still use about: commands from the address bar and page links to about: commands.
The File, Options..., Options edit window has been reorganised to make room for:
Display external JS file errors. (Browser tab) (Note: External JS file errors will always be recorded in the View, Error list log.)
On Web page or in message box. (Browser tab)
If you are using Windows Vista or a later version of Windows, then the Options edit, Set file types, Edit file icons button is now disables,
as the file icon is now assoated with the default program that runs the file.
To change the default program and icon assoatated with the file, menu click on the file, then click on Properties, Change.
Added javascript function ww_checkComputerPlatform(PlatformID, MajorVer, MinorVer, BuildNo)
Return values are:
-1 = Operating system version is older than values.
0 = Operating system version is the same as values.
1 = Operating system version is newer than values.
Use -1 to skip a value.
Eg. if(ww_checkComputerPlatform(2, 5, -1)==0) {...} is true with Windows 2000 and Windows XP 32/64 bit.
if(ww_checkComputerPlatform(-1, 5)==0) {...} will also return the same matches.
if(ww_checkComputerPlatform(-1, 5, -1, -1)==0) {...} will also return the same matches
if(ww_checkComputerPlatform(2, 10, 17760)==1) {...} is true with Windods 10, version 1809 (build 17763) and later versions.
if(ww_checkComputerPlatform(2, 10, 17763)>=0) {...} is true with Windods 10, version 1809 (build 17763) and later versions.

Added the Advanced options button in the options window.
The new options are:
Add MSIE value to userAgent when not in IE7 mode. (For users with IE 11 or later installed)
Don't display WebWindow version messages in a message box or on a web page until after the set date. (Still displays in About WebWindow window)Who at 50. To celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who, this version has some Doctor Who images stored as inbuilt background images.
To select a different image, click on File, Options..., Background options.
(To use your own image, drag a image.bmp file to the Background options window)This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)3.20.0047 (17/05/2014 - 1:00pm bst)
Note:
There is a bug with this version. See WebWindow version 3.20.0048 below.
WebWindow extra JavaScript values functions and code from JS external files now also work in frames and iFrames.
To disable code in frames and iFrames, untick Run extra JS code in frames in the options window.
(File - Options... - Options edit - Browser)
New Javascript value:
ww_extraJS_inFrames = true if code will run in frames or iFrames.
ww_extraJS_inFrames = false if code won't run in frames or iFrames.
(If ww_extraJS_inFrames =false then ww_extraJS_inFrames will return an object error or undefined in frames/iFrames)
Edited code to return the correct Trident engine version with ww_tridentVersion(0)(String) and ww_tridentValue(Number).
WebWindow 3.19.0046 returned the wrong values with IE7 and earlier versions. IE8 and above where OK.

The Web page information window, (View, Page information) now displays if MSIE was added to the userAgent string,
when in IE8 mode or above, with IE11 or later installed.
Page viewed in mode: IE7Page viewed in mode: IE8 (MSIE added to userAgent string)Page viewed in mode: IE8 (No MSIE in userAgent string)' ' ' ' ' ' ' '' ' ' ' ' ' ' 'Page viewed in mode: IE11 (MSIE added to userAgent string)Page viewed in mode: IE11 (No MSIE in userAgent string)
In the Options, Advanced options window you can now add, edit or delete a page address from a list of web sites.
If the web site address is listed and ticked, then any extra Javascript code from the 'External JS file,
version messages and/or extra WebWindow Javascript code will not be added.
When adding or editing an address in the list, set the value to:
• Don't add external JS file code or messages.
• Don't add WebWindow Javascript code. (See note below)• Don't add external JS, messages or WebWindow Javascript. (See note below)
Untick but do not remove the address from the list if you wish to temporary allow external JS, messages and WebWindow Javascript.
(You will not need to type in the address again when blocking JS, messages and WebWindow Javascript)Note: Version messages can only be displayed on your welcome, home and help pages.
Using wildcard *
If the listed address ends with a star then all pages starting with that address will have the code and/or messages blocked.
If the listed address starts with a star then all pages ending with that address will have the code and/or messages blocked.
Wildcards in the middle of the address do not work with this version.
Eg.
http://mysite.co.uk/* will block code and/or messages on the whole website,
but not on http://www.mysite.co.uk or https://mysite.co.uk etc.
*/blog/* will block code and/or messages on any page in directory blog or sub directory.
If more than one match is found for the current web page then:
If any match is set to block External JS code and messages then external JS code and messages are disabled.
If any match is set to block WebWindow extra Javascript code then WebWindow extra Javascript code is disabled.
Note 1:
Extra WebWindow Javascript code has priority over external JS file code:
So ww_IEmode=1234 in js_ExtraCode.js file will still return your current IE mode on the web page.
If extra WebWindow Javascript code is disabled then ww_IEmode=1234 will return 1234 on the web page.
Note 2:
If there are any parameters on the end of the Web address;
Eg. .../index.php#PageIndex
.../index.php?Username=Joe
then */index.php will not match the address.
So use */index.php*
Note 3:
The list of website addresses is listed in alphabetical order.
Note 4:
If you allow external JS file code to be added to a page, the page may display correctly but not printout correctly due to your code.
Use the Print Preview option to check this.
If the Print Preview page looks different from the web page then;
1. Disable the external JS file.
( File, Options..., Options edit, Browser, External JS file = -None-)(or File, Options..., Options edit, Advanced options and add the page to list, set with External JS code disabled)
2. Refresh the page.
3. Check page again in Print Preview window and then print it out.

The WebWindow version information is now only downloaded every 14 days and not every time you open a new WebWindow window.
By downloading the information from the Internet less often, has the following effects:
Less traffic to the same information Web page and more likely to get a connection. (Due to lower server bandwidth usage)
Faster time for WebWindow to load, as it doesn't have to wait for a connection every time.
The down side is that you may not notice a new version release for a few days.
ww_version_InfoDownload will hold the date and time the WebWindow version information was last downloaded.
Note:There is no option to change the number of days WebWindow waits until it reads the version information from the Internet,but you can edit this number in the register: Registry key; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WebWindow or (64 bit); HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\WebWindow Registry name; ReadVersionInfoEveryXDays Registry type; DWORD (32-bit number) Registry value; 0 = check every time (As before), 1 = check once a day to 365 = check next year today. (Default value = 14 days if registry name not found)File - History - [ Save history list ](Ctrl+Ins) added.
You can save the list as a CSV file (Spread sheet) or as plain text.
CSV file saves the file in comma separated value format as used by spreadsheet programs.
Text only file saves the file as plain text. (The web address column is padded with spaces to align the second column at character position 60)
Other file type saves file in above CSV format unless the extent is .txt, then saves in the above text format.
The Browse buttons in the Options window, are now the same shade of gray as all the other buttons.
The options value Don't return private JavaScript values is no longer a true/false value but an integer, to allow for a number of different security levels.
The value of ww_JS_privacy is still a boolean value for True=Don't return private info or False=Return all info.
The value of ww_JS_privacyLevel is an integer. 0=Don't return any private info, 1=Return some private info, 2=Return all private info.
Return some but not all private JavaScript values.
False (0) (New)
2
-2
Return all private JavaScript values.
If ww_JS_privacyLevel = 2 (Return all private JavaScript values) then the following Javascript values can be read.
New JavaScript values:
ww_startPageURL returns the start page address. (Page loaded when WebWindow starts. Same as about:StartPage or about:WelcomePage)ww_homePageURL returns the WebWindow home page address. (Page loaded when clicking on the Home button or typing about:Home)ww_IE_homePageURL returns Internet Explorers home page address. (Same as WebWindow home page, if about:Home set as home page in the options window)

about:EmailList = Displays all email address in a table. (Default address highlighted)
about:emaillistsettings or about:emailsettings = Displays all email address and settings in a table. (Default address highlighted)
New JavaScript values added that only work with a HTML tag.
As some new Javascript values can return a large area of data, you must also add a HTML tag to enable the code.
(Pages that do not require the extra Javascript values will load faster without the new HTML tags)Note: The following lists are in the font or application load order. Use the Javascript .sort() function to sort the area.ww_ScreenFontList.length returns the total number of screen fonts. (Only works with the <ww_Read:ScreenFonts> tag. ww_JS_privacyLevel >= 1)ww_ScreenFontList[...] returns the name of one of the screen fonts.
ww_PrinterFontList.length returns the total number of printer fonts. (Only works with the <ww_Read:PrinterFonts> tag. ww_JS_privacyLevel >= 1)ww_PrinterFontList[...] returns the name of one of the printer fonts.
ww_AppsList.length returns the total number of applications running. (Only works with the <ww_Read:Apps> tag. ww_JS_privacyLevel >= 2)ww_AppsList[...] returns the name of one of the running applications.

Fixed small bug with about:Computer ticker on
All versions returned the correct H, M and S values, but:
Versions up to 3.18.0045 returns the correct number of days the computer has been running.
Version 3.19.0046 returned the day number in year. EG. The 1st of January would return 1. (Due to changes with ww_ticker[10])
Version 3.20.0047 now returns the correct number of days the computer has been running.
Added more ww_ticker[...] values.
The values are;
Press Ctrl+D to add a page or pages to the favourites list.
Press Ctrl+D will list all open tab window addresses.
When the window opens, the tabbed window with the input focus will be selected.
If address is ticked then the addresses is already listed in the favourites list.
Click on OK and all addresses ticked will be added to the favourites list,
unticked addresses will be removed from the favourites list.
Click on Information and the full address and page title of the selected list item will be displayed.
If the same address is listed more than once and some copies are ticked and some untick then the address will be added.
When adding a new link, the text is set to bold and the globe icon is selected.
You can change the favourite link flags, address or link text in the favourites window. (Menu Edit link ..).
If you have Internet Explorer 11 or a later version installed, then pasting to a Web page will not work unless you are in IE7 mode.

To celebrate WebWindows 15th birthday this May, (22/05/1999) this version has some inbuilt background images to mark this event.
To select a different image, click on File, Options..., Background options.
(To use your own image, drag a image.bmp file to the Background options window)This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)3.20.0048 (17/05/2014 - 8:00pm bst)
Fixed bug with WebWindow version 3.20.0047 that would not read the version information file, when WebWindow loads and the file is over 14 days old.
(This was because it was trying to read the information from the main window and expect to find the View Source code menu from a browser tab window.)If you run version 3.20.0047 and it crashes because the version file is out of date, then the version message will still be stored in the registry.
Running any other version will return two WebWindow versions in the userAgent string, if in IE7 mode.
To fix this, delete the following registry value;
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-286877397-2041048702-3604145019-1001\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform
WebWindow 3.20.0047; IE 7; IE top mode 11; (Your message)(To find this value, search for WebWindow 3.20.0047 with RegEdit.exe)This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7.(This version is compatible with Windows 8 and 10, see version 3.21.0049 below)THIS VERSION.3.21.0049 (21/08/2015 - 9:00am bst)
Windows 10, first version.
Due to changes with Windows 10 from previous versions of Windows, older versions of WebWindow will work but...
(WebWindow versions up to 0.05.0032 don't work or will crash when the Options window is opened with Windows 10)(WebWindow version 0.06.0033 to version 3.20.0048 works with Windows 10, but...)
WebWindow version messages can be displayed
using Javascript code,
in the About WebWindow window,
but messages are not added to the welcome, help or home pages.
The OEM number in the Help - About WebWindow will display <Unknown Product ID>(Note: Installing Windows over Windows 7 or Windows 8 will change the OME number)
The operating system will be displayed as Windows 8 and not Windows 10.
(Javascript userAgent string return Windows NT 6.2 and not Windows NT 10.0.)
The operating system platform number returns 2.6.2 and not 2.10.0.
This also affects about: commands and WebWindow extra Javascript code.
WebWindow extra Javascript value of ww_OEM_number will now return the OEM number or the Windows 10 product number.
ww_computerPlatform[-1] now returns the correct Windows 10 information.
ww_computerPlatform[0] now returns the correct operating system name, with Windows 10.
ww_computerPlatform[1] now returns the correct operating system name and version, with Windows 10.
ww_computerPlatform[2] now returns the correct service pack version, with Windows 10.
ww_computerPlatform[3] still returns the correct platform number with Windows 10. (Value is 2 with Windows 10)ww_computerPlatform[4] now returns the correct major version number. (10 and not 6 with Windows 10)ww_computerPlatform[5] now returns the correct minor version number. (0 and not 2 with Windows 10)ww_computerPlatform[6] now returns the correct operating system version number. (10.0 and not 6.2 with Windows 10)ww_computerPlatform[7] still returns the correct OS version info size, value with Windows 10.
ww_computerPlatform[8] now returns the correct build number. (10240 and not 9200 with Windows 10)
Technical notes:
Due to changes with Windows 10, the Product ID is no longer readable from the registry.
WebWindow now reads the value using WMIC in a batch file.
This value is then saved in a file. The file date is checked and updated if it is over two hours old.
This code may be updated in a later version.
Dual boot operating systems.
WebWindow was not tested on a dual boot system until this version.
WebWindow will work just as well on a dual boot systems as a single operating system, except;
The favourites menu will only list the favourites you have entered in the current operating system.
The history list will only list the pages you have visited in the current operating system.
Changing the settings while in one operating system will not change the settings in the other operating system.
As your C: and D: drives will be swapped depending on which operating system you are in:
You may need to change the path to your email application.
You may need to change your home page if it is on your hard drive and change
the start of the path from C:/ to D:/.
WebWindow website address is now; http://webwindow.agius.co(Was; http://webwindow.markagius.co.uk)WebWindow email address is now; WebWindow@agius.co(Was; WebWindow@markagius.co.uk)(You can still use the old web site and email address for a limited time, but the old site may not be updated as often)
Most information, exclamation and warning messages boxes have now been replaced with graduated background colour windows.
Label added to Help - About WebWindow, to display the WebWindow information file address and the date/time the version information was last read from the Internet.
This is the same as the extra Javascript value; ww_version_InfoDownload
A new javascript value ww_VersionInfoAddress added to return the information file address.
You can edit the information file address in the options window.
Listed addresses are:
http://webwindow.agius.co/versions/WebWindowVersionInfo.htm (Default address, used from version 3.21.0049)
http://webwindow.markagius.co.uk/versions/WebWindowVersionInfo.htm (File used by version 2.14.0041 to 3.20.0048)
http://markagius.co.uk/files/WebWindowVersionInfo.htm (File used by version 0.00.0006 to 2.13.0040)
You can enter any other address. (If address not found, then will display warning as with earlier versions if website off-line)
You can now edit how often the information file is read from the Internet, in options, Advanced options.
Low values (E.g. 1 day) will update the information more often, but slow down the time WebWindow loads.
High values will only update the information after a few days, but will load WebWindow faster and reduce the Internet trafick and data the WebWindow web site sends.
(Please use values over 7 days)
The WebWindow version is now out of date window, now removes any HTML tags.
Previous versions will display; This version of <B>WebWindow</B> is now out of date...
This is now displayed as; This version of WebWindow is now out of date...
If you have Internet Explorer 11 or a later version installed, then pasting to a Web page will not work unless you are in IE7 mode.
As you can not past to a page, you can not edit a page.
WebWindow version 3.20.0047 removed the File - Paste to page menu option when not in IE7 mode and the top mode is IE11 or greater.
The File - Save edited page menu option is now also removed, if not in IE7 mode and your top IE mode is IE11 or greater.
The default value for Display MSIE version in userAgent with all modes(See; Options - Program - Advanced options) is to now display the MSIE version.
This will only affect the userAgent string when in IE8 or a higher IE mode.
The default value for Display MSIE top/selected mode value(See; Options - Program - Advanced options) is to now display the current/selected MSIE mode.
When closing WebWindow with more than 1 tab open and option set to display a warning message:
The warning message now also lists all the open tab windows.
The list is the page titles or URL's as set in Options, Browser, Display tab Titles/URL's.
Added the following web search engines to the search engine list:
DuckDuckGo at; https://duckduckgo.comClusty at; http://www.clusty.com
If you only have 1 or less monitors attached to your computer, then File - Copy image... - Copy monitor 1 image is no longer listed,
as Copy whole desktop image and Copy monitor 1 image will be the same.
To help speedup the time WebWindow loads and opens new tab windows, you should first open a small page, rather than one that is hundreds of kilo-bites big.
Previous versions used the Help.htm page as the default welcome page. You can still select this page or any other page, but warnings will be displayed
unless you select the about:blank or the new Welcome.htm page, as the welcome page.
The new Welcome.htm page has just a few links to the Help.htm page, some other pages and a list of recently visited pages.
(You can edit the Welcome.htm file if you wish, but try to keep it's size small, for fast loading times)
Fixed small bug that looked for file://C:/..../Welcome.htm and not C:/..../Welcome.htm, when checking if it's OK to display the welcome message.
The welcome message should now be displayed on the following pages: (Unless the Don't display WebWindow version messages until... value is set in the advanced options window)
The welcome page (Eg. Welcome.htm)
Help.htm (The local WebWindow help page)
